Creative engagement is a meaningful part of how Aruga Home Care supports dignity, connection, and emotional wellbeing. We are pleased to welcome Brittney Anderson to the Aruga community as a consultant supporting and enhancing our Creative Engagement programming.
A Background Rooted in Movement and Care
Brittney Anderson is an accomplished professional dancer and educator with over 18 years of experience in Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, and Tap. Her work is grounded in an accessible, inclusive approach to movement that meets people where they are, making it especially meaningful for older adults and individuals living with dementia.
Her practice focuses on gentle, adaptive movement that supports confidence, expression, and connection rather than performance.
Specialized Training for Older Adults
Aruga proudly sponsored Brittney’s participation in the Sharing Dance Older Adults Dance Teacher Training Course, a nationally recognized program developed through a collaboration between Baycrest and Canada’s National Ballet School.
This training equips instructors to deliver safe, engaging, and accessible dance experiences for older adults, including those with physical or cognitive challenges. Baycrest is internationally recognized for its leadership in aging research and the use of creative engagement to support wellbeing later in life.
Supporting Creative Engagement at Aruga
As a consultant, Brittney works closely with Aruga staff to support movement-based creative engagement across our care programs. Her role includes sharing ideas, offering guidance, and helping adapt movement experiences to suit a wide range of abilities and comfort levels.
This collaborative approach ensures that creative engagement remains person-centred, safe, and meaningful for each individual we support.
Why This Matters
Movement can support emotional expression, body awareness, and connection, even when communication becomes more difficult. Brittney’s work strengthens Aruga’s commitment to innovative, compassionate care that honours the whole person.
We are grateful to welcome Brittney to the Aruga community and look forward to the impact of her work with our team and clients.
